Country Life is clearly getting to me: I'm super excited about these Woolworths Heirloom seeds a friend gave me as a house warming gift. I'm now starting to plan our 'potager' - posh for veggie patch. I'm already drooling at the thought of heirloom tomatoes and tiny carrots and herbs like chervil and borage.

Despite my RB Kew training (from another life) I've never been very good at growing vegetables or even herbs - or in fact anything, even though I love gardening. I've always been super keen whenever we've moved into a new garden but usually throw in the towel after waging a losing war with chickens, dogs, children, caterpillars, snails, aphids and other invaders and concede that Woolworths is just a lot easier.
Since we're now surrounded by gardening on a grand scale (ie farms) I'm re-inspired to have another go plus we have over 2 acres/1 hectare of garden to fill. I've found this article pretty helpful and an excellent seasonal planting guide so no excuse now.
But to be honest, I mainly just spend time looking at pictures on Pinterest for now.
